Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? Romans 8:35

The final message I hope you gained from this 40-day love challenge is that no matter where you are, who you are, what you hope for the future or what you regret from your past God is There. And His Love is available to you without reserve.

I still don’t understand it. Who can?

From my desire for missionary work to my decades away from the faith, actively seeking other ways, God was there.

From the loss of my father to the birth of my daughters, God was there.

From my inability to see my alcoholism to my moment of clarity, God was there.

From my years of living in resentment to an affair and a therapy chair. God was there.

From my compulsion to redefine myself to the confusion of feeling I had missed my calling, God was there.

In the highs and lows, the clarity and confusion, the happiness and the sadness, God was there.

What about you? Has your life swung from one extreme to another? Or have you walked a steady and consistent pace? Do you feel you could do more? Do you wish you did less? Do you put pressure on yourself to succeed? Do you judge yourself when you fail? Do you suffer from an addiction or strive for perfection? Do you hide your face thinking you’re not worthy of love?

Yeah. Me too. And I’m still learning. God was there. And God IS HERE. In this present moment. He doesn’t need anything from me. He isn’t waiting to judge. He is looking at me with endearing eyes and a proud papa smile. He knows I’m doing the best I can. And I am.

It’s time to let go of the ideas you’ve believed that are blocking your experience of God’s love. It’s there. He never left you. Accept it. Not because you have done anything, and not because you haven’t; there are no God superstars. Only children. Walking one day at a time, as best they can. Fully loved.

Nothing can separate us from the love of God.

You go before me and follow me.

You place your hand of blessing on my head.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,

too great for me to understand!

I can never escape from your Spirit!

I can never get away from your presence!

Psalm 139: 5-7

You see, nothing I have done and nothing I can do will ever separate me from the Love of God. It is ever-present, all-consuming, long-suffering, always believing the best.

God’s love was there. In my darkest moments. God’s love is still HERE. As I walk out into the light. And the same is true for you.

God’s love is IN US. God’s love just IS. Sleep well. Rise with a smile. You. Are. Loved.

Day 40 Lenten Love Prayer:

Thank you that even in my darkest moments You didn’t leave. Even when I wanted to You to leave. Even when I said I don’t believe. Even when my heart was hard and my mind was far from You. You waited patiently. You never had a bad thought towards me. You continued to believe the best in me. You saw my heart and You knew I was hurting. Even though I didn’t know it. Your graciousness and kindness to me is confusing. How could you stay when I wanted You to go? How could you love when I didn’t care? I don’t understand it and yet I’m eternally grateful You are patient and kind. May I accept Your love with gladness. May I give it to others with generosity. I have been given so much. Give me the power to understand how wide, how long, how high, and how deep Your love is so I may be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from You. Amen.

Day 40 Scripture:

And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Ephesians 3: 18-19
