For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face.
Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.
1 Corinthians 13:12

They say people don’t change, but I believe they do. Why? Because back in 2009 I was on the brink of a divorce, was completely exhausted and frustrated and had no life skills to deal with my emotions or relationships.

Crashing into a brick wall is good sometimes. It will wake you up, that’s for sure! Through a short course in therapy and a revived mission to help other moms discover what I found to be so enlightening and life-changing, I enrolled in Life Coach Universe with David Essel and in 2010 I had completed my coursework and was open for business.

Now it was a first step back into some version of spirituality for me. David is an All-Faiths minister and I learned a lot from him. But because of my church experience in my early 20s, which left me completely disgusted with Jesus (yes it was misplaced blame…I realize that now), I was NOT open to the Bible. At all.

Sure it may have had some validity, but I hated Christians. Close-minded, judgmental, backwards people who I was NOTHING like. So I found another way to connect with God, through energy and the law of attraction. I discovered Buddhism (which I still really love) and I even bought some Tarot cards. Maybe God could speak to me in them? Maybe???

So the good news is that God is not rigid. He will come to you in the way you are open to him. That’s what I believe. He is all loving and ever-present. There is nowhere you can go that he is not there…even in other religions. I believe that too.

I think what’s most important is that you give Him (or her) your heart and that you spend time developing your connection with God. So what is the point?

Well, back in 2010 I was blogging with fervor (sort of like I am now) but on universal truths, not seen through the language of Christianity. Even through multiple website revisions, rebranding seasons and the ups and downs of life and business this post I wrote on September 1, 2010 still is one of my most viewed posts.

I wanted to share it with you today. Because God is the same yesterday, today and forever, The April that wrote this article 8 years ago is a different April. But also still the same. It was a different season. A new awakening. A girl in her early 30s with 3 young kids who saw the world through a different lense.

But the truths hold. I think you’ll see that as well.
